A CA-1 is designed for when you can specifically name a date/time the injury occurred. For example, I slipped out of a truck and injured my knee. A CA-2 is filed when the condition develops over more than one workday. Example: I have developed carpal tunnel due to years of typing on a computer while at work. For a CA-2A, you would already have a history of a work injury in the area. Example: In 2012 I injured my back at work. Due to the injury, I had surgery and have been fine since. A week ago, my symptoms returned, and I need to be treated.
